As a part of your examination at Flanery Family Chiropractic advanced computerized diagnostics are used to quickly and effectively determine if chiropractic care can help you.
"What is a 'Surface EMG'?"
A Dynamic Surface EMG is similar to an "EKG" for the heart. It uses a hand held instrument and electrodes that are placed over the muscles of lower back to identify the exact location of abnormal muscle activity. The benefits of this test are that it is painless, quick, and most importantly, it helps us determine what further evaluations or tests may or may not be necessary! Discover how you "measure up" to normal! You'll get to take a copy of your neck and back "picture" home with you! The Insight Millenium is the absolute latest diagnostic tool and provides the highest technology available today for chiropractic spinal analysis.
What do the results of the Insight scan mean?
Originally developed for use by NASA to measure the effects of zero gravity and fatigue on their astronauts, Insight scan has recently been shown to correlate with neurological reflexes that occur with injury. For our purposes, we are focused on the spine and muscle involvement.
Our mission is to identify the areas causing your pain. Using Insight Millenium helps this process. The Insight Millenium combines Infrared Thermography, computerized Range of Motion testing, static Surface EMG, and Dynamic Surface EMG to identify abnormal joint motion, abnormal muscle activity and joint swelling.
Once the scan is complete the computer deciphers the information and displays it in a graphical format that is easy to understand for both the doctor and the patient. Interpretation relies on combining the information from all portions of the scan. During your treatment, the scans are repeated to help graph patient progress and to help identify areas needing additional attention.
